Small and Mighty Crosscut Sled

This was a simple and fun project. The plans are detailed enough without being overly cumbersome.

I highly recommend applying paste wax or some type of finish to the sled, it made it way easier to use.

I also recommend getting some high quality mitre bars; the ones linked in plan do okay but have a bit more play than I'd like

After all these years of flubbing along with a miter gauge on my old saw, I finally made my first crosscut sled. I certainly could have cobbled something together based on the pix and video, but the plan saved a lot of bother and probably some mistakes too. And I like to support folks who provide so much good info in an entertaining way. The plan is very nicely laid out, and clearly illustrated. The best part is that the sled performs flawlessly. Makes me wish I’d built one years ago.

Great low weight sled for making cuts on small stock. The plans were complete and easy to follow. Once dialed in with the 5 cut method, I have been using this as my go to sled. I added t-tracks for using clamps on small pieces which, for me, has been fairly frequent. Really nice design and function. And, yes, the sled is nicer than my table saw!

Good detailed plans

The plans were very well thought out and designed. The instructions were clear and I don’t recall any part being confusing or unclear.

But would be nice to have a SketchUp model of the sled. Also, the guard piece may need to be modified depending on which stop block you use. My Katz-Moses one extends too much beyond the fence and runs into the guard so I had to trim it.

Perfect size for my small job site table saw.

I think the plans I purchased do not have enough instruction in them. Combining the plans with the online videos I was able to figure it all out.

Watching some of Scott Walsh videos I came across one on how to build a Small Crosscut Sled. The video is self explanatory and it would be easy to copy from watching the video. I feel if someone is giving good information that you should support them.
I not only ordered the plans for making the sled, but also subscribed to his channel. The price for the plans was reasonable and they came the same day over my computer. Scott’s videos not only offer some good ideas but are entertaining I will keep watching.

When received the plans to build the crosscut sled for a table saw, I was surprised how well organized, detailed and easy to follow step by step. Including dimensions, materials and even where to get the supplies. Excellent job.
